ORGANIC FARMING

Organic agriculture is a production of Agricultural products free from chemical and pesticide residues by adopting eco-friendly low-cost technologies.


PARAMPARAGAT KRISHI VIKAS YOJNA (PKVY)


It is a component of soil health management (SHM)  of major project National mission of sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). Under PKVY organic farming is promoted through the adoption of the organic village by cluster approach and PGS (participatory guarantee system)

ORGANIC AREA SELECTION CRITERIA

A. The cluster chosen for organic farming shall be 50 acres in extent and in as contiguous a form as possible. In order to facilitate this, the ceiling of subsidy that farmer is eligible shall be a maximum of one hectare and the total financial assistance eligible for a 50-acre cluster shall be a maximum of RS.10 (ten) lakhs for farmer members and RS.4.95 lakh for mobilization and PGS certification. of the total member of farmers in a cluster, a minimum of 65% marginal farmer should belong to small categories. Thus minimum criteria of inclusion should as far as practicable be fulfilled as cluster level and were not possible, it should be satisfied as Mandal/BLOCK/TALUKA or District level.

! Adoption of PGS certification through cluster approach- State Governments shall propose to Project sanctioning committee an action plan for a number of clusters for PGS certification

1.1 Mobilisation of farmers/local people to form clusters for PGS certification -for the adoption of organic farming through cluster approach under participatory Guarantee system (PGS) certification, assistance will be provided for a three-year term.
